With the addition of a third skiff we needed a third launching dolly. Having built two already the third one came together quickly using the same specs as the previous two. Wheels have been an ongoing problem though. They can’t handle the weight, nor do they like being immersed in water. We’ll keep looking but I think we’ll need to up the budget to meet our requirements.
The new thwarts have been fitted and cleats installed to support the ends. We found this method the best to ensure there is no rock in the thwarts. We don’t glue them in, just use screws, so they can be removed. The kabe holes in the gunwales have been filled in and hardwood pads glued in place ready for the thole pin holes to be drilled. We use plates and pins with our other boats so this will enable us to use our first set of wooden oars with the William S Shipp.
